Airmen participate in a bomb building exercise. Published March 11, 2012 By Emily Simerson 122 FW March 10, 2012 -- Airmen from the Fort Wayne Air National Guard base in Indiana trained on a mass bomb building exercise during their March unit training exercise. Behind the gate of the munitions maintenance area stands a sizeable white shelter where all the work began. The airmen practiced building the entire munitions from ground up. One phase of the mission required five or more Airmen to be able to torque the nose on the bomb to over 1,000 ft. lbs., keeping eight major components intact. When asking Airmen 1st Class Shelby Ricketts what she most enjoyed about her job, she replied that it's being able to work with the close "ammo family".
